Patriots whoop the Skins

The Pats Colts game this upcoming weekend is sure to be a great one, it will finally define which team is the superior in the high powered AFC. But before all the hooplah for the Colts Pats game we should look at what the Patriots did to the skins.

It really was a drumming, 52-7 which is worse than what both the Dolphins and Jets produced on them. Now I'm not saying that the Redskins are a bad team and if they were playing either the phins or the Jets I would assume the Skins would lay a beating down. However, this game does reveal what the Redskins have become, which is a mediocre team. For all the talk, including on this blog, about the NFC East producing three teams in the playoffs I would assume that this game has shown that the NFC East will not. The Patriots were the better team from the first snap throwing down 24 in the first half including the 8th straight opening drive score. After the half it was still all NE as they steam rolled (perhaps a little too much) to a 52-7 win. The 7 coming with 3 minutes left in the game.

There has been issues with the way the Patriots ran up the score on Washington which is typical of the way the Pats have been playing this year. However, it is my opinion that this is the National Football League, if you want to stop someone from scoring 52 on you, then you should stop them. Yes Brady threw on 4th downs and tried a deep bomb to Randy Moss when the score was still 38-0 but Washington is supposed to have one of the best, if not the best, secondaries in the League. Stop them if you dont want them to continue to put points up.

After the game Joe Gibbs said "I don't know of a weakness that they have," when asked what he felt about how the Patriots brought up the score on them. he said "I have no problem at all with the way they played. If they want to get 100 points, that's up to them, We're just trying to stop them."

Although not every Redskin took it that way. "I said something to [Belichick] after the game," Godfrey said, according to NBCSports.com. "I told him, 'You need to show some respect for the game.' You just don't do that. I don't care how bad it is. You're up 35 points and you're still throwing deep? That's no respect."

Any way you throw it the Patriots beat the Skins 52-7 and are marching into Indy for one of the most hyped regular season showdowns of all time.

I would be furious if I was a Redskins fan. Joe Gibbs didn't prepare that team it all. They have a ton more talent than the Phins and Jets and didn't put up near the fight as those teams. They looked lost out there it was pathetic. Then all he has to say was they have no weakness. Wow. Before the game he asked the media for ideas on how to beat the Pats, sadly, he was serious. Pathetic coaching and play by the Skins all around.

I have blasted the Skins play calling before on this blog and I will do it again...37 passing plays and 16 running plays is NOT what the Skins should be doing. One may say, "but they were playing catch up" doesn't matter they need to stick to what should have been their gameplan. Moreover, the Skins ran 12 plays in the 1st quarter...8 of them were passes.
